  • What is therapy?
    Therapy is a partnership between a client and a qualified clinician. My goal is to help you become the best possible version of yourself through clear objectives, flexible thinking, and commitment to the outcome.
  • What is your approach?
    I use an integrative approach, including cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, EMDR, and goal-setting. Each approach is tailored to your unique situation.
  • What is depression?
    Depression can stem behaviors, circumstances, habits and some suggest from chemical imbalances as well. It's often triggered by life events and can result from habits that don't serve you well, leading to a persistent low mood.
  • What is anxiety?
    Anxiety usually results from a long-term elevated response of the sympathetic nervous system. It often develops from patterns observed in the environment during upbringing.
  • Are there physical components to mental health?
    The mind-body connection is strong. Physical actions can influence mental states. Health issues - particularly those that impact the central nervous system - influence mental health and should be taken into account.
  • How do you treat acute mental health issues like borderline personality disorder and bipolar disorder?
    These conditions typically have neurological components and require more intensive therapy, often involving specific modalities like dialectical behavioral therapy. I have had great success helping people aleve symptoms and overcome the limitations clients with these issues face.
  • How do you diagnose?
    Diagnosing takes time. I provide a provisional diagnosis initially and revise it as needed. Accurate diagnosis avoids labeling and helps focus on effective treatment.
  • What is your philosophy on medication management?
    I don't prescribe medication but encourage clients to explore medication management with qualified practitioners. Therapy is essential for meaningful, lasting change, even when medication is used.
  • What will a typical session with you look like?
    Sessions vary based on your needs. They will involve supportive reflection, problem-solving, and even resource recommendations, depending on what you're experiencing at the time.
  • I have had bad experiences with therapists before. What makes you different?
    I am genuinely intrigued by human behavior and committed to my clients' success. My clients have found therapy beneficial, even those who have had negative experiences with other therapists (see my reviews).
  • How long will it be before I see results?
    The time frame for optimal results varies, but you will feel optimistic after the intake session. I typically ask for a commitment of 4 to 12 consecutive weekly sessions to establish goals and adjust our approach to provide the shortest path to improvement.
  • Do you have a preferred type of client you work with?
    I work with clients aged 13 to 80 from all backgrounds, addressing issues like anxiety, depression, addiction, and trauma. My preference is for clients committed to bringing about lasting positive change.
  • Is there a difference in how you treat adolescents and adults?
    Adolescents are in a formative phase, and I use skills developed through my extensive work with them. The core modalities remain similar for both adolescents and adults.
  • Is there a difference in how you treat men versus women?
    While there are unique internal and external factors for men and women, the desire to improve mental health is universal. I approach each client with cultural competence and sensitivity. I have treated both men and women with great success.
  • Is there homework?
    Homework varies based on your preferences. Some clients request worksheets, while others need guidance and action steps.
  • Are sessions confidential?
    Yes, everything is 100% confidential, except in cases of clear intent to harm yourself or others.
  • Do you do in-person or just virtual sessions?
    Currently, I focus on virtual sessions, with plans to establish office space in the near future.
  • Do you take insurance?
    Yes, I am empaneled with Aetna and CIGNA through Headway. I also offer a sliding scale and discounts for out-of-pocket sessions. Email me for details.
  • How do I add a new question & answer?
    To add a new FAQ follow these steps: 1. Manage FAQs from your site dashboard or in the Editor 2. Add a new question & answer 3. Assign your FAQ to a category 4. Save and publish. You can always come back and edit your FAQs.
  • Can I insert an image, video, or GIF in my FAQ?
    Yes. To add media follow these steps: 1. Manage FAQs from your site dashboard or in the Editor 2. Create a new FAQ or edit an existing one 3. From the answer text box click on the video, image or GIF icon 4. Add media from your library and save.
  • How do I edit or remove the 'Frequently Asked Questions' title?
    You can edit the title from the FAQ 'Settings' tab in the Editor. To remove the title from your mobile app go to the 'Site & App' tab in your Owner's app and customize.
